Colors: Natural w/ Tan Leather colored Handles (Please note that natural grass is not beige or off white in color. It is green grass which is dried to its lightest state. It is similar to the color of hay, with some brown pieces throughout. Leather may vary slightly.

• Works with and should be used with the Bedding for Bilia Bassinet , which is a basket liner and fitted sheet.

Bilia means Newborn in Gurenɛ, a dialect attributed to the originators of this craft. Made from Elephant Grass and Dyes this Moses basket bassinet is beautifully handcrafted for your newborn.

We call our bassinets, "Nature's Bassinets", as they are completely handmade with dried natural elephant grass. Elephant grass is similar to hardened hay. Each basket takes several days to weave from start to finish. This is a very difficult completely handwoven craft, as a result patterns and natural dyeing may vary slightly. Leather handle colors may range slightly within their color groups. 

Basket is made of all natural grass without additives. Basket can become misshapen from transit but can be easily fixed by reshaping

Design Dua was founded by Coretta Owusu, a lawyer, human rights advocate, and entrepreneur with nearly a decade of experience as a business professional in the USA and West Africa. The brand’s design studio is located in Ghana, and each product is handwoven and hand-dyed from elephant grass, sissal grass, wicker, or paper rope by highly skilled local artisans. The Design Dua team interacts directly with the artisans and insures that customers receive an heirloom-quality final product, and that the weavers are paid a fair wage for these extremely time-consuming, handmade products. With a passion for empowerment, education, and awareness, Design Dua’s aim is to display the beauty of West Africa while giving locals the opportunity to truly benefit from the items that they create.
