About the artwork:

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Dos Cabezas, 1982

Created in 1982, Dos Cabezas (i.e. Two Heads) was rendered in acrylic and oil stick on canvas and mounted on wood supports. It was completed within two hours of when Jean-Michel first met Andy Warhol on October 4, 1982, after a meeting over lunch between the two spectacular artists organized by art collector, Bruno Bischofberger. With the paint still wet, Basquiat excitedly sent the piece to Warhol's studio, the Factory, as a testament to his enthusiasm for meeting the Pop Art icon. 

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mitchell Crew, 1983

The 1983 piece Mitchell Crew, was rendered in acrylic, oil stick, and paper collage on canvas, mounted via wood supports. This engaging artwork showcases an array of ten distinct heads, spread out on a canvas that's almost 12 feet long. Every head represents a different character, creating a compelling visual landscape for the viewer to explore.

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Beat Bop, 1983

The 1983 artwork Beat Bop masterfully fuses the raw energy of graffiti art and music through cryptic symbols, iconography, and text. Jean-Michel produced and arranged the hip hop classic, “Beat-Bop” with K Rob and Rammellzee which featured the Beat Bop artwork on its album cover. Jean-Michel produced and self-financed the album and released it under his own Tartown record label.
