Seven Great Reasons to Choose Aldea for Your Registry:
We're all scrambling to find great deals going on now, especially on baby gear as it can all get quite pricey quite quickly. Ultimately, It doesn't mater if you paid $100 or $500 for your car seat. If car seats are being improperly used or installed, safety is not guaranteed, which is the name of the game. Not sure how to start even looking for a car seat? Lets us help you in the process.
While there is no sure clean cut answer, there are a few factors that may help in making the decision.
-That it fits the vehicle properly
ALWAYS follow the car seats specific instructional manual. Your vehicle will also have a manual that mentions car seat installation, as this is different in every make and model. If at all possible, test your car seat in your vehicle before buying.
-That it specifically fits your child's age, height and weight requirements.
To maximize safety, keep your child in the car seat for as long as possible, as long as the child fits within the manufacturer’s height and weight requirements. Keep your child in the back seat at least through age 12. Check this link out at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It breaks down age and set up by car seat type. Also, look for high weight and height limits so you can use the rear facing feature as long as possible. (rear facing is 5 times safer than forward!). The development and design team that created the toy business at The Land of Nod (Crate & Kids) is the team that now creates all of our products. We feel we are the best because everything we offer is unique. Our products cannot be found anywhere else in the market. We make sure our products are fueled by children, and not by batteries and wires. We put a great deal of thought into everything we do, and the result is a safe, exclusive product that any child would be delighted to receive. Our team has decades of experience in the toy industry, and we put that background and knowledge to work each and every day.

Every type of store has a specific value. We treat all of our partners with the same respect, no matter the size. What makes Compendium the best at what you do?
Each day offers us countless little moments, some are marked by milestones while others are filled with life’s routines. The truth is, every moment has the potential to be deeply meaningful when we live with intention. At Compendium, we want to honor those everyday occasions and the people we share them with. Each item we make is created with a relationship in mind—whether it is the one you share with a parent, a friend, a teacher, or yourself. How has this year impacted your business?
We are a small business that largely partners with other small and midsize businesses to share our products with the world. So, as retail shops felt the pains of the pandemic, so did we. But this time has also given us great opportunities to create even more programs to support our partners. We’ve given free products to stores to help increase their profit margins during these challenging times. We’ve restructured our volume discounts to make it easier for retailers to stay in stock with customer favorites, and we’ve continued to offer $5 flat-rate shipping, despite rising costs. More than anything, this year has highlighted how important it is to support one another, connect with loved ones, and celebrate the human spirit—which is what our company and our products are all about!
Where do you think retail is going?
The last year has really shined a spotlight on the importance of shopping small. Even while doors were closed retailers have done such a great job finding new ways to meet people where they are by taking business online—from providing virtual personal shopping experiences to hosting Facebook live events. Those kinds of innovations aren’t going anywhere and are giving people even more ways to feel connected to one another, which is really vital, not just for the retail climate but for overall well-being too.

June is the month where LGBTQ+ community celebrates pride, but there are so many more reasons why pride is more than just a month of celebration
16+ years ago, Aldea was born just footsteps away from The Castro. One of the most prominent symbols of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activism and events in the world. This community embraced us from our beginnings and continues to do so. In return, we have created a safe space where families, couples, persons and employees are welcomed, encouraged and empowered to be their true selves. Throughout the years, while we have supported and stood behind the LGBTQ+ community, it has come a long way but much work still needs to be done.
We have partnered up with brands this month that stand behind our values in support of the community to not only give away a beautifully gay basket, but allowed us to donate proceeds from sales of their products in the month of June to Encircle. A non-profit organization, targeting at risk LGBTQ+ youth. They offer a safe space, daily programs and therapy with focuses on social connections, emotional and psychological skills along with positive emotional experiences and authenticity. Since 2017, they have helped over 70,000 youths, 5,000 therapy sessions and over 81% rate of youths returning for services.

Monte Design was founded in 2005 by Ralph & Michelle Montemurro. Founded out of the need to furnish their son’s nursery, together they launched a line of Canadian-made high-quality furniture. Every Monte Design product is built by hand in our Toronto factory. Our team is made up of dedicated, expert craftspeople, from the sewers, to upholsterers, to technicians and the last touch quality control. Our skilled upholsterers take their time with each piece they create to ensure every Monte owner receives a quality piece of furniture they will cherish for many years.

Our successes are shared, and celebrated as we both encourage each other to do more, and change things up in manufacturing and retail!
How do you feel you compete in the marketplace for the products you produce?
We offer a range of fully customizable products at a fair price, all manufactured in North America which we think resonates with a lot of our customers. Customers can select from a variety of products, base options, and up to 35 fabrics to design a chair, bed, sofa, or sectional that suits their unique style. We have made it easy for our stores to help a customer create the look they want. We believe that a glider or rocker should be the jumping-off point for the design of the nursery. Design that first, then the rest will come together!
Ways that we give back.
Giving back to the community has always been very important. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we donated a portion of our proceeds from all retail & online sales and to the Toronto Food Bank to help families that had been impacted by COVID-19. We have also donated for many years to SickKids Children’s Hospital in Toronto.
How has the past year impacted your business?
The past year has been challenging in many ways. At Monte Design, we have implemented several safety procedures, wearing masks, social distancing, and rigorous cleaning. Thankfully we haven’t been impacted as far as shut downs so we have been able to still produce to supply our customers with Monte products.
The one thing we have seen is how our retail partners have rallied for their customers. Whether it is doing Zoom consultations, appointments for expecting parents to shop before or after hours for safety reasons, or taking to social media to share information and products. Aldea does an amazing job of staying in touch with their customers. When face-to-face contact is not possible we see you on IG talking to your customers and giving them tours of what is in store!

While we are known for our fun and revolving merchandise, we ensure to prioritize vendors that also give back to their communities, source locally and are cruelty free in their manufacturing. This has helped us maintain relationships throughout with many vendors in many categories and work exclusively to bring special releases and Aldea exclusives you can only find with us throughout the years.
